Your stall
Your things, in your hall, paid to you.
A prototype. Your stall stands on your bed; pull up either any time with your key. Nothing here is a contract until Whimsible is filed.
Opening a shop is becoming a member. What comes with it: a page of your own in the garden, rooms behind it if you want them, a shop standing on it, paid into your own account, a place in the market, the ledger in the open, and a say. Start wherever you like: build your own place first, or set out things first. Bring what you have already made, point us at where it already lives (a things file, a folder, your own site, your own domain), or start from scratch. Nothing has to move. Only want to see how it works first? Test it with us: a tester key opens a practice stall and joins nothing.
How it fits. Your bed is your page in the garden. Your stall is your shop, standing on it: this page. The builder gives the page rooms. One key opens all three.
Your stall opens with your key: the small key in the purse at the bottom of the page. Then come back here.
A stall stands on a bed. Make your bed first, then come back here.
A practice stall. You are testing with us: your stall stands in the market marked as practice, its till only plays (no card, no money), and practice orders land below the way real ones would. Tell us how it went.
What needs doing
Your things
One form per thing: its name (a name is a name; the facts do the finding), what it is, a picture by address, how it was made, the story, what it costs you to make and send, and what most pay. The floor a buyer sees is your cost plus the card's cut, worked out for you. Save each thing on its own.
You gave a things file below, so it is read instead of these forms. Clear the address to use the forms.
Bring what you already have
Nothing has to move. Point us at where your things already are and they stand on your stall as the same cards as everyone else's, bought at your own place until you take money here.
Its address, like https://yourshop.com. We read its list of products as they change; each card leads to your product page to buy.
In Shop Manager: Settings, Options, Download Data, then the file of your current listings. Give it here, with your shop's address so each card can lead to it. Etsy gives no link per listing.
One address per line: Squarespace, Wix, Big Cartel, Gumroad, Ko-fi, your own site. We read what each page says about itself (its name, picture, words and price) and the card leads there to buy.
Already keep a things file on the web?
A file in the same shape as the Foundry's (each thing with its name, story, picture, what it costs you, what most pay) can be read instead of the forms above. Give its address. If your bed is a folder, a file called box.json in it is read with no address needed.
Your policies and where you ship from
Shipping, returns, custom orders, anything a buyer should know first. They show on your shop and on every thing's page, the way Etsy shows a shop's policies.
Away for a while
Shut the shop with a note and the market says so; nobody can buy until you open it again. Your things stay where they are.
How the money works
A buyer pays at the till in the market. The money for your thing goes to you, into an account that is yours at Stripe, the same day it is paid. Setting it up is one page on Stripe's own site: who you are and where to pay you. Nobody here ever sees it. Whimsible takes nothing at the till. Stripe is for now: as we grow we mean to found our own bank, and members get the plans for it.
Orders
Nothing has sold yet.
Your ledger
Every sale, what it paid, what it cost you to make, the card's cost, the profit on it, and what reached you. The same rule for every stall; the whole market's sums are on the ledger.
No lines yet.
